UNMISS (2014). Conflict in South Sudan. A Human Rights Report

This report presents the findings of investigations and documentation conducted by the Human Rights Division of the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS) since 15 December 2013. It follows from the UNMISS Interim Report on Human Rights, released on 21 February 2014. Based primarily on over 900 interviews with victims and witnesses, among others, the report finds that from the very outset of the violence, gross violations of human rights and serious violations of humanitarian law have occurred on a massive scale. Civilians were not only caught up in the violence, they were directly targeted, often along ethnic lines....
