Bogh (2010). Children in and out of schools. Baseline Assessment.

The baseline assessment: Children in and out of schools, is based on data and information from 2 field visits to 37 schools and the education authorities in Aweil East County and Northern Bahr el Gazahl in September and November 2009. The team was composed of staff from Save the Children Denmark (SCD) and Save the Children UK (SCUK). The school visits took place in connection with monitoring of the project Emergency Education V, funded by the Region of Origin Initiative,
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally the baseline assessment report is based on data from two field visits to 11 schools and education authorities in Aweil East County in February and November 2008. The data from the field visit in February 2008 was collected in connection with a review of the project Emergency Education III – IV, with participants from SCD/ SCUK, a consultant and the head of the Humanitarian Department in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The data from the field visit in November 2008 was collected in connection with an end of project evaluation with a Danish consultant and staff from SCD/SCUK. Charlotte Bøgh has participated in all the mentioned field visits to Aweil East and she has also participated in all the mutual monitoring visits to schools in South Sudan including Aweil East in the period 1996 – 2009. The monitoring visits were an integrated part of a range of Complex Emergency projects and Emergency Education projects, which were implemented in a partnership between SCD and SCUK with funding from the Humanitarian Department, The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
